One of my earliest childhood memories is a trip to the Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Bailey Circus.It was while reading The Epic of America, the greatest history book I've ever read, by James Truslow Adams; that my interest in Barnum was renewed.I found this book not only a great biography but an examination of the people and era in which Barnum thrived.Barnum truly is an American original; the definition of a self made man. The world needs more Barnums, more showmanship.
Barnum intersperses facts of his life with stories and happenings that made me laugh. The story is told from thge viewpoint of his life in relation to his business. I liked the book because it answered questions I had after reading the fiction book THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF MRS. TOM THUMB. The book did not include the collaboration with Bailey & circus so I guess a reading of another version of PT Barnum is in order.
