An engrossing and in no way dumbed-down explication of the natural law from a Catholic perspective. The book was written during the papacy of JPII and could use an afterword by the author commenting on recent developments. I am reading one or two questions a day and getting a lot out of the discussion.
Reading this as part of a five-year Catholic program. It is so difficult to understand, I have to go back and reread chapters several times before I get any idea at all what I am reading. Written for a theology student.
Charlie Rice's book is a wonderful review of how the natural law inspires and is related to Catholic teaching. I agree with Joe that it is not a basic presentation on natural law per se. But, that is clearly not what Charlie intended. To read this book is to come as close as possible as hearing this marvelous orator in person. I heard him speak on abortion once and it was a transcendent experience.
Excellent presentation on the subject of Natural Law. Makes for great discussion with our Men's Group that meets weekly. It is so relevant and timely.
Segments can be heavy reading material where tutorial assistance would be beneficial. Conversely, much of the content is just plain common sense making for easy reading. I am an advocate of natural law which makes giving the book a favorable rating come naturally.
